Katie's House raises record-breaking $24,000!
The 5th Annual Celebration of Life, in memory of Katie Haumesser, held at Receptions on April 2 was so much fun and a huge success! We raised a record breaking $24,000.00! The tremendous support given to renovate the 3,000 square feet at the Hearing Speech & Deaf Center of Greater Cincinnati to create Katie’s House is closer to being open thanks to everyone who so generously gave of their money and time. Thank you for believing and helping to create the dream!
We’d like to give a special thank you to our corporate sponsors who provided Katie’s House with $9,500 in contributions: Clermont County Educational Service Center, Coldwell Banker West Shell, PPG Industries, Redbank Transport, Stuart Conrad Roofing, Withamsville Animal Hospital, Bradley Morris DC, PNC Bank, Shirley Davies, The Rahe Family, Champion Windows and Patio Rooms, Core Resources, Edward and Deborah Nurre, Guardian Savings Bank, The Haumesser Family, Thomas and Marion Blohm.
We will be presenting a $20,000 check to the HSDC to begin the work on Katie’s House. This is very exciting to all of us who love the mission of serving children with special needs. We are also proud to award $2,500 in scholarship money to a graduate student at the University of Cincinnati pursuing a Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology. These monies will continue the work Katie was so passionate about with her children with special needs.
This year’s Outstanding Service Award was presented to Julia Ann Smith for her vision and devotion to serving children and families affected by autism. Among many wonderful things, Julia founded Families with ASD (www.familieswithasd.org). We also awarded honorable mentions to Kim Shepler and Beth Flanigan for their continued commitment to children.
We are humbled by the outpouring of love from friends, new and old, family members, and our community who continue to support the mission of the Katie Haumesser Foundation. With the opening of Katie’s House in our sights, we will all be continuing the mission of serving children with special needs and will continue to provide educational scholarships for students in Katie’s field of Speech and Language Pathology.
